Ka-BLOOM! High Speed Flower Explosions Cool photography by Martin Klimas
You know what they say, it’s better to explode in a blaze of glory than wilt away. Or something like that. German photographer Martin Klimas, who you may remember from his exploding porcelain figure series, creates breathtaking photos of flowers exploding into a million beautiful pieces. To achieve this effect, he soaks the petals in liquid nitrogen to make them brittle and hits the flower with an air gun. It’s actually not that dissimilar to what happens to my potpourri bowl when my cats sneeze on it. Maybe I should pick up a high speed camera to justify not committing kitticide having to clean up petals all the damn time.
